As Above, Almost Below: Caught Between the Stars and the Salton Sea

As Above, Almost Below: Caught Between the Stars and the Salton Sea solo show by Sionainne Costello.

Sionainne Costello (°1995, Australia) is a practicing photographer and videographer, currently living in Melbourne. Her work explores the relationship between the land, urban spaces and ourselves as humans.

As Above, Almost Below: Caught Between the Stars and the Salton Sea attempts to establish a link between natural surface reality and that imagined by its conceiver. The works focus on realisations that question our existence and our physical connection to natural beauty.

This series resounds and resonates with images culled from the fantastical realm of imagination and nature. With a subtle minimalistic approach, Costello creates work in which a fascination with subjective opinion and influence is explored.

The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.
