Sustainable Studios and Jewellery Practices with Northcity4 and Emma Grace.

Counihan Gallery In Brunswick is pleased to present a series of special free public programs throughout the exhibition Flow. The exhibition is part of CLIMARTE’s ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE 2017 - a festival of exhibitions and events harnessing the creative power of the Arts to inform, engage and inspire action on climate change.

Meet at the Counihan Gallery In Brunswick for an artist talk with sustainable jeweller Emma Grace at 2.30pm. Then join us for a short walk to local studio Northcity4 to hear about their sustainability initiatives within their studio, individual artist practices and Inari Kiuru’s Indoor Forest with studio co-founder Ali Limb and artist and designer Inari Kiuru.

Northcity4 is a not for profit artist studio and community in Brunswick. NC4 was established in 2012 with a focus on sustainability and supporting the contemporary Jewellery community.

The 375 sq mt warehouse space houses 13 permanent artists and 3 short term rotating residencies. In 2014 artist Inari Kiuru was successful in winning a Bank of Melbourne community grant and has gone on to design and execute a beautiful air purifying Indoor Forest which now breathes clean air into the studio space.

The talk will be followed by a Jewellery from Household Plastics workshop with Emma Grace at 3.30pm, where you can learn to design and construct jewellery and wearable pieces of art using simple plastics and ‘found objects’ from around the house.

Bookings are not necessary for the Artist and Studio talks but Bookings are essential for the Jewellery from Household Plastics workshop with Emma Grace.
