Honouring Women in Moreland Awards

Council started the Honouring Women in Moreland Awards in 2003. The awards have recognised the important contribution of women in Moreland to social justice and the wellbeing of our community.

The awards are now part of the Moreland Awards and are open to women and girls who live or work in Moreland.

Victorian Local Government Women's Charter

The Victorian Local Government Women's Charter was established by the Municipal Association of Victoria. It underpins many of the initiatives towards encouraging women's leadership and forms the basis for the Honouring Women in Moreland Awards.

The Charter recognises the need for increased women's participation in the key decision-making forums in the community and in democratic governance, supporting the gender equity, diversity and active citizenship principles.

Moreland City Council is one of 68 Councils that have signed up to this charter.
