Railway Place Path and Union Street Refuge Island, Brunswick - Upfield Shared Path Upgrade

Project overview

Moreland is proposing to upgrade the Upfield Shared Path at Railway Place, Brunswick to improve safety for pedestrian and cyclists.

The proposal includes:

  • 3 metre wide shared path on Railway Place
  • Refuge island on Union Street for Upfield Shared Path users
  • Refuge island on Union Street for RMIT (exact crossing location to align with RMIT’s master plan)
  • Maintain the existing trees in Railway Place

Due to the heritage rail infrastructure and native trees, a path would not be practical within the rail corridor. Additionally, Moreland’s Integrated Transport Strategy (MITS) supports the reallocation of road space to support sustainable modes of transport.
