Oak Park Reserve playground upgrade 2020
The playground at Oak Park Reserve has been upgraded early this year as Council continues to implement the Moreland Play Strategy 2016-20 (PDF 2Mb). The updated playground includes new play equipment and surrounding nature play elements.
Draft concept plan
A draft plan (PDF 2Mb) was prepared to show a fresh new playspace that incorporates a blend of contemporary play equipment, garden beds and recycled materials through the use of locally sourced rocks and logs for balancing, standing and sitting. The colours and shapes have been chosen to compliment the adjacent sporting complex and provide an inviting play experience.
Picnic tables and a variety of different seating arrangements within and around the playspace will provide restful opportunities for both users and carers of all ages. The new native trees and plantings are considerate to the adjacent Moonee Ponds Creek environs and will increase shade and amenity to this location surrounded by sports facilities.
Residents and the wider community were invited to submit feedback on the proposals shown in the draft concept plan (PDF 2Mb).and minor amendments were made following that feedback, with some new monkey bars added to the playspace. Please contact Wendy Skala, Landscape Architect, at Moreland City Council to provide comment or ask for more information or email Council Open Space.

Construction was completed during April-May 2020.
