What is an online database?
An online database provides information you can search, such as articles, books and multimedia on a variety of topics.
How to use online databases and other resources
Moreland libraries provides a range of online subscription databases and resources free for library members to access and search.
Some online databases prompt you for a username or a library card number. This is the number printed on your Moreland City Libraries member card, for example, A2000301xxxxxxxB.
The password is your date of birth in 8 numbers, for example, ddmmyyyy.
New to Moreland City Libraries
Comics Plus allows users to enjoy thousands of digital graphic novels and comics. Access anytime, anywhere with a web-connected device: tablet, PC or smartphone.
If you have used Zinio eMagazines before, then you can use the same account to login to Comics Plus .
If not, you will need to click on Create New Account. You will be asked to enter your library card number. This is the number printed on your Moreland City Libraries member card, for example, A2000301xxxxxxxB. Click on Next, then follow the instructions on the screen.

This training can help you if you are updating your software or if you want to learn a completely new application.

How to create an Atomic training account
If you already have a Zinio eMagazine account this will work for Atomic training. You can log in using your email address and password as previously selected for Zinio.
If not, you will need to click on create a new account. You will then enter your library card number. This is the number printed on your Moreland City Libraries member card, for example A2000301xxxxxxxB.
The next step is to input your email address and choose a password.

Family and local history
Local History Catalogue (includes Lantern Slide collection)
Selected historic images of Brunswick and surrounds collected in 1938. Images were first exhibited on lantern slides in 1939. An exhibition of slides was held in Counihan Gallery in 2011. For more historic images see Picture Victoria and Pictures on Trove.
Ancestry Library Edition
You can search this database at branches of Moreland City Libraries. International database you can search for family history records. Records available differ between countries.
English National Archives
Discovery allows you online access to the English National Archives' collection of digitised public records including both academic and family history sources. You can only search the Discovery database on the Internet computers at branches of Moreland City Libraries.
Find My Past opens up the world of family history with millions of records from Australasia, the UK, Ireland, the US and Canada. You can only search Find My Past at the Internet computers at branches of Moreland City Libraries.
Historic Australian newspapers 1803 - 1954
View and search articles from major historic Australian newspapers. Includes The Argus 1848-1956; Coburg Leader 1890-1913; Brunswick and Coburg Leader 1914-1918.
British Newspaper Archive
View and search British newspaper articles from the 1700s to the 1950s. You can only search the British Newspaper Archive at the internet computers at branches of Moreland City Libraries.
You need to create a personal registration first. We recommend you register before coming into the library, as you need to wait for a confirmation email from the British Newspaper Archive.
National Archives of Australia
Federal Government archives from 1901 onwards. Holdings include people's immigration and military service records. Use 'Record Search' link to search holdings. Only records before 1979 can be shown for legal reasons.
Pictures on Trove
Searchable database of photographs held by Australian museums and libraries.
Includes historic images of Moreland's people and places.
Historic images collected by Victorian public library services.
You can limit searching to images held by Moreland City Libraries.
Public Record Office Victoria
State Government archives from 1830s onwards.
Includes health, school, transport , wills, probates and coronial records.
Includes guides and indexes to early incoming passengers, teacher, Koorie and prisoner records.

Includes historical sound recordings from the archives of the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation.
