We are streamlining our ebooks. From 4 September 2017, Wheelers ebooks will no longer be available through the Wheelers platform as they start moving over to Borrow Box. Same fabulous ebooks: all in one place.

What are eBooks?

These are books in digital format that you can download to a computer, laptop, tablet, eReader or smartphone.

How to borrow a library eBook

Moreland City Libraries has purchased a range of eBooks that you can download for free.

  1. Search the Moreland library catalogue for a title of interest. The catalogue will indicate if a title is a downloadable eBook and link to the item on the eBook supplier website. You can also browse or search our eBook supplier websites directly to borrow items.
  2. Click the 'borrow' button below a title to borrow the eBook.
  3. When prompted, enter your member card number e.g. A2000301xxxxxxxB. This is the number printed on your Moreland City Libraries member card.
  4. Enter your password, which is your date of birth in eight numbers ddmmyyyy

To read an eBook on your device or computer, you may need to download special software. The Help pages on the supplier sites explain the software you need.

Library eBooks cannot be downloaded to Kindles.

To read  Borrow Box eBooks on smartphones or tablets you need to download the free BorrowBox mobile app.

Overdrive eBooks
Adult-level fiction and non-fiction eBooks.
Read online or offline. Downloads in a variety of formats. Free mobile app also available. Visit Help.

Comics Plus Library Edition
Comics Plus allows users to enjoy thousands of digital graphic novels and comics. Access anytime, anywhere with a web-connected device: tablet, PC or smartphone. 
If you have used RBdigital before, then you can use the same account to login to Comics Plus .

If not, you will need to click on Create New Account. You will be asked to enter your library card number. This is the number printed on your Moreland City Libraries member card, for example, A2000301xxxxxxxB. Click on Next,  then follow the instructions on the screen.

How many eBooks you can borrow

You can borrow up to 18 eBooks for free from Moreland City Libraries at any time. 

You can have 6 eBooks from each eBook supplier on loan at any time. 

The lending period is 3 weeks. After three weeks the file on your device will become unreadable.

You can also have 2 eBooks from each eBook supplier on reserve at any time.

Renewing and returning an eBook

To renew an eBook, you need to reborrow and download the item again.

You can return eBooks early.

Project Gutenberg
Over 40,00 out-of-copyright titles to read online or download in different file formats.

Open Culture
Great classic titles to read online or download in different file formats.
Authors include Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

Many books
Over 29,000 titles to read online or download in a wide range of file formats.
Titles include Crime and Punishment, Anne of Green Gables and The Art of War.

eBooks at Adelaide
Classic fiction and non-fiction titles in ePub and Kindle formats.
Ancient history and classic fiction from the middle ages to 1800s.

New York Public Library ePubs
Over 34,000 titles available in ePub format.
Authors include Mark Twain and Arthur Conan Doyle.

Internet Archive
Wide range of fiction, children's books, historic texts and academic books.

Google Books
Preview books and download PDFs of out-of-copyright titles. 

University of Pennsylvania
Over a million books to read online.  Mostly American academic and historic titles.

Classic American literature and some reference works.
Includes King James Bible.
