Morgan Court exhibition space
Morgan Court is a public plaza located in the heart of Glenroy. This much-loved public space was renewed in 2015 with brand new seats, lighting, paving, garden beds and trees.
One of the most exciting features of the upgraded space is the inclusion of four exhibition boxes, which will host a series of art works during 2015 and 2016.
The first artwork was installed on 19 October 2015, and will be on display for around six weeks.
This work by artist Liz Walker is titled "City of Dreams" (pictured right). The work consists of a series of sculptures made from recycled aluminium pot lids and cups in a variety of anodised colours.
City of dreams celebrates what makes our community great. It is a place full of life and colour, music, food and art. It’s a place where children play outside safely without fear, where neighbours talk over the fence and where people look up and say hello as you walk past them in the street. It’s a place filled with laughter and love. It’s a place of respect, understanding and peace. It’s a place without malice, without homelessness, without greed, without dumped rubbish. It’s a place where everyone is equal and everything is possible. It really is a city of dreams.
Submission and selection process
An expression of interest process, which closed in August 2015, resulted in a number of artists being selected to display their work in these boxes between October 2015 and May 2016.
In early 2016, we will seek further expressions of Interest for artists to display their work in Morgan Court.
