Want to keep your garden green this summer, lower your water bills and help the environment? WaterSmart Moreland is here to help you manage water better at home!

What is WaterSmart Moreland?

WaterSmart Moreland is a new Council initiative, delivered in partnership with Melbourne Water and the Moreland Energy Foundation, which provides participating residents with a free home inspection and advice on improving water efficiency, plus access to discounted water efficiency products and installation, such as rainwater tanks and internal fittings.

All installations are conducted by an independently reviewed and recommended plumber, so you can be confident of getting a quality job at a great price.

WaterSmart Moreland also provides free access to a range of useful resources including fact sheets, ‘how-to’ guides and videos to help all residents improve their home water management.

Why improve water management at home?

There are many important reasons to improve water management at home:

Save water and reduce your bills

Our homes use a lot of water, which is a limited and often costly resource. The good news is that there are lots of things you can do around your home to reduce your water use and in turn, reduce your water bill.

WaterSmart Moreland can help identify what you can do to reduce water use in your home and provide reliable, cost-effective installation of the items you choose.

Green up your garden

Want a greener, healthier garden? Don’t let the precious rainfall on your roof go to waste!  Let WaterSmart Moreland show you how you can collect and direct rainwater to your garden to keep it green and happy, even in dry times. Yes, your garden can still be a lush oasis in the hot weather – with barely any ongoing costs!

Protect your local waterways

Love your local creek? You can help protect it by preventing excess runoff from your property –  which contributes to ecological damage, flash flooding, erosion and pollution – from reaching your local waterway.

WaterSmart Moreland can show you what to do on your property to help keep your local creek healthy (and benefit your own place too).
