Moreland Youth Commitment
The Moreland Youth Commitment (MYC) is a strategic partnership of schools, education providers, government agencies, community organisations and industry who work together to co-deliver and align local approaches that improve outcomes for young people in the City of Moreland.
Our vision is for all young people (10-24 year olds) in the City of Moreland to be safe, healthy, engaged in learning, employment and their communities and supported to be the best they can be.
Young people have diverse needs and as a community we develop strategies to improve outcomes for young people who are engaged in education, those who are at risk of disengagement and those who are most vulnerable and disengaged.
The family plays a pivotal role on young people’s education and wellbeing outcomes. Our scope therefore sees young people within the context of their family life.
Established the School Community Action Team at Glenroy College to improve student engagement, primary to secondary transitions and parent and family engagement. The team has been running for 3 years and its work continues to expand.
Ran series of networking activities including School-to-Community bus tours and School-Business Roundtable.
Supported the development of the From My School to Our School parental engagement strategy.
Offered a range of professional development events around family engagement, school community partnerships and school-business partnerships.
