Located in Kalang Road, Glenroy, the playspace at G E Clarke Reserve has been selected for upgrading this year with funding allocated from Council's capital works program.
The project will consider new play equipment, park furniture, fencing, access path, signage and additional tree planting for shade, all subject to funding and consultation.
Local residents are invited to provide feedback on the draft concept plan (PDF 542Kb) that has been prepared in November 2016, which is being sent to residents within 400m of the park.
That invitation is extended to anyone in our community wishing to submit comment on the proposals in the draft concept plan, or you may contact our office if you require further information.
The draft concept plan (PDF 542Kb)illustrates the ways in which the upgrading will transform the existing playground, through installation of exciting new play equipment and retention of some play pieces that will be serviced and brightened up with a fresh coat of paint.
This will extend the variety of play opportunities for a broad range of ages, along with the addition of an area for nature play featuring natural materials and space for imaginative play.
Complementing this new playspace will be park seating as well as inclusion of a shaded picnic area with table and benches, plus installation of a drink fountain with tap and dog dish. Planting of native and deciduous trees will add to the improved appearance of the park as well as providing increased shade to the existing tree canopy.
The total budget for this playspace upgrade is $80,000 and will be managed by Council's Open Space Design and Development Unit.
