Drinking alcohol in public places

Drinking alcohol in public places in Moreland is banned under Council's local laws.

This ban applies at all times and is enforced by Victoria Police who can issue an on-the-spot fine to individuals breaking the law.

This ban does not apply to:

  • Licensed outdoor dining areas
  • Local parks and reserves on weekends and public holidays where the drinking of alcohol is permitted from 11 am - 6 pm standard time and from 11 am - 10 pm daylight savings time.
  • Special events that have a Temporary Liquor Licence.
